Despite its modern design, the engine has gained a reputation for several serious reliability concerns, the most significant being excessive oil consumption caused by poorly designed piston rings, which in severe cases can require replacement of the cylinder block.Another common issue is rapid stretching of the timing chain, sometimes appearing before 100,000 km.
