This generation of Nissan Qashqai has been produced from January, 2008 to December, 2010. We can provide information about 10 modifications of this generation. 2008 Nissan Qashqai is available with four wheel (4x4) drive (4 versions) and front wheel drive (6 versions).
Qashqai is a compact crossover that combines the best qualities of a traditional family hatchback with the capabilities of a compact SUV. This tough, robust and nimble vehicle was designed specifically for the city. High ground clearance and all-wheel drive are an undeniable advantage in modern city conditions. The Qashqai offers the consumer a little more than the usual compact class.
The model was created from a blank sheet to fill another market niche. The Qashqai is the first truly European Nissan - it was designed at Nissan NTCE in Cranfield, England, and took its final shape at the London design studio. The Qashqai is the first Nissan designed entirely through digital engineering.
The marketers have been creative in naming the car. The name "Qashqai" is taken from a name, an ancient Iranian, nomadic tribe living in Iran up to now. In Japan the model is sold under the name Dualis.
Qashqai has received a long bonnet, sloping roof line, massive underside of a body, protective arch, relief under-sill line and impressive ground clearance of 20 centimeters. The large air intake gives a sporty accent, and the massive rear bumper creates a feeling of reliability and protection.
The cabin is large enough, with plenty of room above the head and in the elbows. Designers tried to combine the atmosphere of a spacious family car and the mood of an aircraft cockpit. The division into the driver's area and passenger area was created. The dashboard is designed so that a number of functional buttons are concentrated around the centre of the steering wheel. The materials used in the interior are tasteful and clever. The black and chocolate front panel, the combined fabrics of the seats, the texture of the leather and plastics - all have succeeded not only visually, but also to the touch.
In Europe, the car is available with front- and all-wheel drive and with four engine options - two petrol engines (1.6L/115bhp and 2.0L/140bhp) and two diesels (1.5L/106bhp and 2.0 TD/150bhp). While the 1.6 engine is only available with manual and front-wheel drive, all combinations of two and all-wheel drive, manual transmission and variator are possible for the 2.0.
The manufacturer offers a wide range of optional equipment. European versions are optionally equipped with a glass roof and built-in high-quality navigation. Qashqai has four options: Visia, Acenta, Tekna and Tekna Pack.
Special mention should be made of the fact that Qashqai has won maximum five stars in tests Euro NCAP according to such parameter as protection of adult passengers. With that, Qashqai received the highest scores in both tests: both in front and side crashes, as well as the maximum number of points for the reminder system of not fastened seatbelts. The car also achieved a high score of four stars in the child protection test.
