Toyota RAV4 key fob battery replacement

Two types of keys are available for the Toyota RAV4 generation from 2006 to 2015 - with a smart entry and start system (with a pull-out metal key) and without a smart entry and start system (traditional key shape with a fixed metal key).

Key fob battery replacement for Toyota RAV4 with a smart entry & start system (battery type CR2032)

1. Take out the mechanical key.
   
    
2. Open the cover using a flathead screwdriver wrapped with plastic tape.
   
    
3. Remove the battery cover.
   
4. Take out the discharged battery
   
5. Insert new battery with the positive (+) side up.
6. Install the battery cover and firmly close key body cover.

Key fob battery replacement for Toyota RAV4 without a smart entry & start system (battery type CR2016)

1. Open the cover using a flathead screwdriver wrapped with plastic tape.
   
    
2. Remove the module from the key frame.
   
3. Open the battery case cover using a using a coin wrapped with plastic tape.
   
4. Take out the discharged battery
   
5. Insert a new battery with the positive (+) side up.
6. Install the battery case cover and then install the module into the key frame. Firmly close the cover.
