Toyota RAV4 2020 vs Nissan X-Trail 2017

Comparing electrical vehicle (EV) with combustion engine (ICE) one is a complex task, but we are doing our best.

Toyota RAV4 is more dynamic to drive.
Toyota RAV4 engine produces 8 HP more power than Nissan X-Trail, but torque is 153 NM less than Nissan X-Trail. Thanks to more power Toyota RAV4 reaches 100 km/h speed 4 seconds faster.

Drive type

Wheel drive type: 4x4 - AWD (all-wheel-drive)4x4 - AWD (all-wheel-drive)

Toyota RAV4 2019: It has proactive automatic four-wheel drive with Auto, Lock and Sport modes. In Auto mode, the car has front-wheel drive under normal conditions. If wheel slip is detected, torque is transferred to the rear wheels via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. In Sport mode, torque is transferred almost instantly between the front and rear wheels to enhance cornering performance by transferring up to 50 percent of engine power to the rear wheels. Lock mode can be activated when driving below 40 km/h (25 mph) and provides constant four-wheel drive.

Nissan X-Trail 2017: It has selectable four-wheel drive with Auto, 2WD and Lock modes. In Auto mode, it has front-wheel drive under normal conditions, the rear axle engages when the front wheels start to slip, and power is distributed variably up to 50:50 front to rear. In 2WD mode, the transfer clutch is permanently unlocked, but the electronic control unit can engage the rear wheels occasionally, for example during hard acceleration. In Lock mode, the transfer clutch is permanently locked, providing a constant 50:50 power distribution. When vehicle speed increases above 30 km/h (20 mph), it switches to Auto mode, but when speed decreases, it switches back to Lock mode. The system also switches to 2WD mode in the event of overheating.

Ground clearance: 180 mm (7.1 inches)210 mm (8.3 inches)
Because of the higher ground clearance, Nissan X-Trail can perform better on bad roads - it can go over higher obstacles and bumps. At the same time, the higher ground clearance can reduce stability and handling on paved roads, especially at higher speeds.
Nissan X-Trail 2017 2.0 engine: The engine has a good power to fuel consumption ratio and, with careful maintenance, a long service life. The most common problems with these engines are with the fuel injection system and lubrication.

Dimensions

Length: 4.60 m4.69 m
Width: 1.86 m1.82 m

Nissan X-Trail has more luggage space.
Toyota RAV4 has 60 litres less trunk space than the Nissan X-Trail. The maximum boot capacity (with all rear seats folded down) is larger in Nissan X-Trail (by 273 litres).
Turning diameter: 11.8 meters11.2 meters
The turning circle of the Toyota RAV4 is 0.6 metres more than that of the Nissan X-Trail, which means Toyota RAV4 can be harder to manoeuvre in tight streets and parking spaces.
Gross weight: 2`510 kg2`400 kg
Net weight:1`910 kg1`730 kg
Load capacity:600 kg670 kg
Toyota RAV4 load capacity (permitted cargo and passenger weight) is par apmēram 12 procentiem less than Nissan X-Trail. Therefore, Nissan X-Trail is more suitable for longer family trips or transporting heavier loads.
