Gearbox: | Manual | Manual | |
---|---|---|---|
Engine: | 1.6 Diesel | 1.5 Diesel | |
Camshaft drive: | Timing chain | Timing belt | |
Engine chain usually needs to be replaced less often than the timing belt, but the cost of replacing the chain is usually higher. Chain motors are considered to be more reliable, but noisier and more vibration generating. | |||
Performance | |||
Power: | 130 HP | 110 HP | |
Torque: | 320 NM | 260 NM | |
Acceleration 0-100 km/h: | 10.5 seconds | 12.4 seconds | |
Renault Kadjar is more dynamic to drive. Renault Kadjar engine produces 20 HP more power than Dacia Duster, whereas torque is 60 NM more than Dacia Duster. Thanks to more power Renault Kadjar reaches 100 km/h speed 1.9 seconds faster. | |||
Fuel consumption | |||
Fuel consumption (l/100km): | 4.8 | 4.7 | |
Real fuel consumption: | 6.3 l/100km | 6.4 l/100km | |
By specification Renault Kadjar consumes 0.1 litres more fuel per 100 km than the Dacia Duster, which means that if you drive 15,000 km in a year, the Renault Kadjar could require 15 litres more fuel. But when we compare the real fuel consumption reported by users, Renault Kadjar consumes 0.1 litres less fuel per 100 km than the Dacia Duster. | |||
Fuel tank capacity: | 60 litres | 50 litres | |
Full fuel tank distance: | 1250 km in combined cycle | 1060 km in combined cycle | |
1360 km on highway | 1060 km on highway | ||
950 km with real consumption | 780 km with real consumption | ||
Renault Kadjar gets more mileage on one fuel tank. | |||
Drive type | |||
Wheel drive type: | 4x4 - AWD (all-wheel-drive) | 4x4 - AWD (all-wheel-drive) | |
Renault Kadjar 2015: Kadjar has an automatic four-wheel drive system with three modes: 2WD, AUTO and LOCK. In 2WD and AUTO modes, it`s a front-wheel drive vehicle under normal conditions. In AUTO mode, if wheel spin is detected, up to 50% of torque can be sent to the rear wheels. In LOCK mode, the center differential is engaged to provide a preset 50/50 power distribution between the front and rear axles. Dacia Duster 2017: Duster`s 4x4 system is adapted from Nissan Quashqai. It has 2WD, AUTO and LOCK modes which are selectable with a button. In 2WD mode the vehicle is FWD. In AUTO mode, the vehicle is normally FWD, but if wheel slip occurs, the rear wheels are engaged to gain traction. In LOCK mode (available at speeds up to 60km/h), the center differential splits torque 50/50 front/rear. | |||
Ground clearance: | 200 mm (7.9 inches) | 210 mm (8.3 inches) | |
Because of the higher ground clearance, Dacia Duster can perform better on bad roads - it can go over higher obstacles and bumps. At the same time, the higher ground clearance can reduce stability and handling on paved roads, especially at higher speeds. | |||
Engines | |||
Engine production duration: | 14 years | 13 years | |
Engine spread: | Installed on at least 7 other car models, including Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Qashqai, Renault Scenic, Renault Megane | Installed on at least 16 other car models, including Nissan Qashqai, Renault Scenic, Renault Megane | |
In general, the longer and for more car models an engine is produced, the better its serviceability and availability of spare parts. Dacia Duster might be a better choice in this respect. | |||
Hydraulic tappets: | yes | no | |
The Renault Kadjar engine has hydraulic tappets (lifters), providing quieter operation and no need for periodic adjustment, but they are more complex in design and can cause serious engine damage in case of failure. | |||
Renault Kadjar 2015 1.6 engine: This 1.6-liter diesel engine is a joint development by Renault-Nissan engineers.
