Jeep Patriot 2007: Patriot has Freedom Drive I - electronically controlled four-wheel drive system. Normally, the car is front-wheel drive, but if wheel slip is detected, it can automatically send up to 50% power to the rear wheels. The system is not designed for off-road use, but mainly for snow and similar conditions with limited traction. Freedom Drive II version adds an off-road four-wheel drive mode, traction control, optimized engine and transmission performance for rock crawling, and hill descent control (not in EU editions).

Toyota RAV4 2010: It has proactive automatic all-wheel drive and acts as front-wheel drive under normal conditions. In the event of wheel slip, torque is transferred to the rear wheels via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. The clutch can also be locked manually using a button on the console.
