BMW 3 series 2008 vs Dacia Logan 2008
| Gearbox: | Manual | Manual | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine: | 2.0 Diesel | 1.6 Petrol | |
| Diesel (BMW 3 series) engines typically outperform gasoline engines in terms of fuel efficiency and low-end torque. This makes them more economical and better suited for towing or long-distance travel. However, gasoline (Dacia Logan) engines mostly are lighter, quieter, and offer better acceleration and responsiveness, especially in smaller vehicles. For more information, see the article "Diesel or Petrol: Fuel Economy and Key Differences." | |||
| Camshaft drive: | Timing chain | Timing belt | |
| Engine chain usually needs to be replaced less often than the timing belt, but the cost of replacing the chain is usually higher. Chain motors are considered to be more reliable, but noisier and more vibration generating. | |||
Performance | |||
| Power: | 177 HP | 105 HP | |
| Torque: | 350 NM | 148 NM | |
| Acceleration 0-100 km/h: | 8.5 seconds | 11.8 seconds | |
|
BMW 3 series is more dynamic to drive. BMW 3 series engine produces 72 HP more power than Dacia Logan, whereas torque is 202 NM more than Dacia Logan. Thanks to more power BMW 3 series reaches 100 km/h speed 3.3 seconds faster. | |||
Fuel consumption | |||
| Fuel consumption (l/100km): | 5.6 | 7.5 | |
|
The BMW 3 series is a better choice when it comes to fuel economy. BMW 3 series consumes 1.9 litres less fuel per 100 km than the Dacia Logan, which means that by driving the BMW 3 series over 15,000 km in a year you can save 285 litres of fuel. | |||
| Fuel tank capacity: | 61 litres | 50 litres | |
| Full fuel tank distance: | 1080 km in combined cycle | 660 km in combined cycle | |
| 1270 km on highway | 790 km on highway | ||
| BMW 3 series gets more mileage on one fuel tank. | |||

Drive type | |||
| Wheel drive type: | 4x4 - AWD (all-wheel-drive) | Front wheel drive (FWD) | |
|
BMW 3 sērija has 4x4: BMW xDrive is a proactive all-wheel drive system without a center differential that engages before the vehicle becomes destabilized, unnoticed by the driver. Torque is distributed between the axles by an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case. The clutch is partially locked most of the time, distributing power to both axles in a 40/60 front/rear ratio, but the system is capable of sending 100% of the torque to either axle. At high speeds or when parking, for example, the clutch is disengaged and all power is sent to the rear wheels. DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) also brakes the wheels individually to regain traction and assist in cornering. | |||
Engines | |||
| Engine production duration: | 19 years | 27 years | |
| Engine spread: | Installed on at least 6 other car models, including BMW 5 sērija, BMW 1 sērija, BMW X3, BMW X1 | Installed on at least 4 other car models, including Renault Megane, Dacia Duster, Nissan Almera, Renault Kangoo | |
| In general, the longer and for more car models an engine is produced, the better its serviceability and availability of spare parts. | |||
| Hydraulic tappets: | yes | no | |
| The BMW 3 series engine has hydraulic tappets (lifters), providing quieter operation and no need for periodic adjustment, but they are more complex in design and can cause serious engine damage in case of failure. | |||
| BMW 3 sērija 2008 2.0 engine: The BMW N47 engine is sometimes called the worst BMW engine because of problems with the timing chain, which tends to stretch at 100 000 km. In addition, the engine has to be removed from the car to replace ... More about BMW 3 sērija 2008 2.0 engine | |||
