Alfa Romeo GT 2007 vs BMW 3 series 2007
Gearbox: | Manual | Manual | |
---|---|---|---|
Engine: | 1.9 Diesel | 2.5 Petrol | |
Diesel (Alfa Romeo GT) engines typically outperform gasoline engines in terms of fuel efficiency and low-end torque. This makes them more economical and better suited for towing or long-distance travel. However, gasoline (BMW 3 series) engines mostly are lighter, quieter, and offer better acceleration and responsiveness, especially in smaller vehicles. For more information, see the article "Diesel or Petrol: Fuel Economy and Key Differences." | |||
Camshaft drive: | Timing belt | Timing chain | |
Timing belt usually needs to be replaced more often than the chain, but it is usually significantly cheaper. Timing belt motors are generally quieter and less vibrating than chain motors. | |||
Performance | |||
Power: | 150 HP | 218 HP | |
Torque: | 305 NM | 250 NM | |
Acceleration 0-100 km/h: | 9.6 seconds | 7.2 seconds | |
BMW 3 series is a more dynamic driving. Alfa Romeo GT engine produces 68 HP less power than BMW 3 series, but torque is 55 NM more than BMW 3 series. Due to the lower power, Alfa Romeo GT reaches 100 km/h speed 2.4 seconds later. | |||
Fuel consumption | |||
Fuel consumption (l/100km): | 6.7 | 7.9 | |
Real fuel consumption: | 6.6 l/100km | 9.3 l/100km | |
The Alfa Romeo GT is a better choice when it comes to fuel economy. By specification Alfa Romeo GT consumes 1.2 litres less fuel per 100 km than the BMW 3 series, which means that by driving the Alfa Romeo GT over 15,000 km in a year you can save 180 litres of fuel. By comparing actual fuel consumption based on user reports, Alfa Romeo GT consumes 2.7 litres less fuel per 100 km than the BMW 3 series. | |||
Fuel tank capacity: | 63 litres | 63 litres | |
Full fuel tank distance: | 940 km in combined cycle | 790 km in combined cycle | |
1160 km on highway | 1030 km on highway | ||
950 km with real consumption | 670 km with real consumption | ||
Alfa Romeo GT gets more mileage on one fuel tank. | |||

Drive type | |||
Wheel drive type: | Front wheel drive (FWD) | 4x4 - AWD (all-wheel-drive) | |
BMW 3 sērija 2006: BMW xDrive is a proactive all-wheel drive system without a center differential that engages before the vehicle becomes destabilized, unnoticed by the driver. Torque is distributed between the axles by an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case. The clutch is partially locked most of the time, distributing power to both axles in a 40/60 front/rear ratio, but the system is capable of sending 100% of the torque to either axle. At high speeds or when parking, for example, the clutch is disengaged and all power is sent to the rear wheels. DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) also brakes the wheels individually to regain traction and assist in cornering. | |||
Engines | |||
Average engine lifespan: | 420'000 km | 350'000 km | |
Engine resource depends largely on regular maintenance and the quality of the oils and fuels used, but under equal conditions the average life of a Alfa Romeo GT engine could be longer. | |||
Engine production duration: | 7 years | 7 years | |
Engine spread: | Installed on at least 2 other car models, including Alfa Romeo 147, Fiat Bravo | Installed on at least 3 other car models, including BMW 5 sērija, BMW X3, BMW Z4 | |
In general, the longer and for more car models an engine is produced, the better its serviceability and availability of spare parts. BMW 3 series might be a better choice in this respect. | |||
BMW 3 sērija 2007 2.5 engine: On this engine, the valve seals and crankcase breather valve diaphragm tend to fail after 80-100 000 km, leading to increased oil consumption. It is recommended to choose engines manufactured in the last years ... More about BMW 3 sērija 2007 2.5 engine | |||
