The Alfa Romeo 156 is a compact executive car produced by the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo from 1996 to 2007. Designed by the Alfa Centro Stile under the direction of Walter de Silva, the 156 was developed as the successor to the Alfa Romeo 155. The model received critical acclaim, winning the prestigious European Car of the Year award in 1998. Over its production span, the 156 underwent two significant facelifts in 2002 and 2003, which introduced refreshed styling, advanced engines, and new transmission options. The car was offered in various body styles, including the saloon, Sportwagon (station wagon), and a raised all-wheel-drive version called the Crosswagon.

The Alfa Romeo 156 was particularly noted for its sporty handling and distinctive design, which featured hidden rear door handles for a coupe-like appearance. The model was a commercial success, with approximately 673,000 units produced worldwide. In 2005, the Alfa Romeo 159 was introduced as its successor, marking the end of the 156’s production run in 2007.

In user reviews, the Alfa Romeo 156 is praised for its stylish design, excellent handling, and strong engine options, making it an appealing choice for those who enjoy a sporty driving experience. The interior is noted for its elegance and comfort for the driver and front passenger. However, the car has drawbacks, including limited rear-seat space, which can be uncomfortable for passengers, and a relatively small trunk. Additionally, some users have reported issues with the car's reliability, particularly with its electronics.
