Lexus NX is a compact luxury crossover SUV introduced in 2014, positioned below the RX in the brand’s lineup. It was designed to compete in the premium compact SUV segment and became one of Lexus’ fastest‑selling models globally. The NX is based on Toyota’s GA-K platform in its latest generation and combines hybrid technology with modern driver assistance systems.
The first generation (2014–2021) was offered with several powertrains. The NX 200t, later renamed NX 300, used a 2.0‑liter turbocharged petrol engine producing about 235 horsepower, paired with a 6‑speed automatic transmission and available all‑wheel drive. The NX 300h hybrid combined a 2.5‑liter four‑cylinder petrol engine with electric motors, delivering around 197 horsepower while prioritizing fuel efficiency. The model stood out with its sharp styling, spindle grille, and a wide range of safety systems including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance.
The second generation, launched in 2021, introduced a completely redesigned platform and expanded electrification. Engine options include a 2.5‑liter petrol engine, the updated NX 350 turbo with about 275 horsepower, and hybrid variants such as the NX 350h. A plug‑in hybrid version, the NX 450h+, combines a 2.5‑liter engine with a larger battery and electric motors, producing around 309 horsepower and offering an electric driving range of roughly 70 km under WLTP conditions. The interior received major upgrades including a large central touchscreen, improved connectivity, and more advanced safety technology.
In user reviews, the Lexus NX is often described as a stylish and dependable alternative to German premium crossovers. Many drivers highlight the hybrid system for its smooth operation and low fuel consumption in everyday driving. Owners frequently praise the build quality, quiet cabin, and strong reputation for reliability. At the same time, some note that the driving experience leans more toward comfort than sportiness, rear seating space can feel slightly tight for taller passengers, and earlier infotainment systems required a learning curve. For many buyers, however, the NX stands out for blending modern design, efficiency, and long‑term durability.
