Jaguar XE is a compact executive sedan produced from 2015 to 2024 as Jaguar’s replacement for the X-Type. Built on the aluminium-intensive D7a platform, it used a front-engine layout with rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive, aiming to compete with premium D-segment sedans. A precise full worldwide production total is not consistently published, though reported global sales reached more than 160,000 units by the end of 2019.

The XE was launched with 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, including Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium diesel units, along with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in higher-performance versions. Most models used an 8-speed automatic transmission, while some early versions offered a 6-speed manual. The lightweight body structure, double-wishbone front suspension and integral-link rear suspension were key technical features, giving the XE sharper handling than many comfort-focused rivals.

In 2019, the XE received a major facelift with revised exterior styling, a more modern cabin, digital instruments on higher trims and improved infotainment. The engine range was simplified around 2.0-liter Ingenium petrol and diesel units, with later mild-hybrid diesel technology in some markets. The limited XE SV Project 8 used a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with around 600 horsepower and was restricted to 300 cars worldwide.

In user reviews, the Jaguar XE is often described as the sedan for drivers who still care about steering feel. Owners praise its balanced chassis, comfortable seats, distinctive styling and strong diesel economy on long trips. The V6 and Project 8 versions add real performance credibility. Criticism usually concerns tight rear space, a smaller boot than some rivals, infotainment that aged quickly, and potentially costly repairs on suspension, electronics or Ingenium diesel components.
