Infiniti QX56 is a full-size luxury SUV produced between 2004 and 2013, later renamed QX80 as part of Infiniti’s revised naming strategy. Built on a body-on-frame platform shared with the Nissan Armada and Titan, it was designed primarily for the North American market, emphasizing power, space, and towing capability. Global production reached well over 100,000 units during its lifecycle.
The first generation (2004–2010) was powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine producing around 315 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive was standard, with an available all-wheel-drive system featuring low-range capability. The SUV offered seating for up to eight passengers, along with a high towing capacity exceeding 4,000 kg in certain configurations. Suspension tuning focused on comfort, though its size and weight were evident in handling.
The second generation, introduced in 2010, retained the 5.6-liter V8 but increased output to approximately 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, now combined with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The chassis was revised for improved stability, and hydraulic body motion control was available to reduce body roll. Interior refinement improved significantly, with upgraded materials, advanced infotainment systems, and expanded driver assistance features.
In user reviews, the Infiniti QX56 is often described as a commanding and unapologetically large luxury SUV. Owners praise its strong V8 performance, generous interior space, and comfortable long-distance cruising ability. Many highlight its towing strength and smooth power delivery. However, drivers also acknowledge substantial fuel consumption, challenging maneuverability in urban environments, and high maintenance costs compared to smaller SUVs. For those prioritizing space and power above all else, it delivers a distinctly traditional full-size SUV experience.
