Infiniti Q50 is a compact executive sedan introduced in 2013 as the successor to the Infiniti G series. Built on a rear-wheel-drive platform with optional all-wheel drive, it was designed to compete in the premium D-segment against established European rivals. Production has taken place primarily in Japan and China, with global sales reaching several hundred thousand units since launch.

At introduction, the Q50 offered a 3.7-liter V6 petrol engine producing around 328 horsepower, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid variant combined a 3.5-liter V6 with an electric motor, delivering a system output of approximately 364 horsepower. In later years, the lineup shifted to turbocharged engines, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder (sourced from Mercedes-Benz in certain markets) and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing up to 400 horsepower in Red Sport 400 form. Diesel versions with a 2.2-liter engine were available in Europe.

One of the Q50’s technical highlights was the introduction of steer-by-wire technology known as Direct Adaptive Steering, eliminating the traditional mechanical connection between steering wheel and front wheels in certain configurations. The model also featured advanced driver assistance systems, dual touchscreen infotainment displays, and a range of safety technologies including predictive forward collision warning.

In user reviews, the Infiniti Q50 is often portrayed as an intriguing alternative to mainstream premium sedans. Drivers appreciate its strong engine performance, especially in twin-turbo variants, and its rear-wheel-drive balance that delivers confident handling. The hybrid version is frequently praised for combining speed with respectable efficiency. At the same time, some owners mention that the dual-screen infotainment system can feel outdated, rear seat space is adequate but not exceptional, and resale values may lag behind German competitors. For buyers seeking individuality and performance without following the usual crowd, the Q50 holds distinct appeal.
