The Honda Prelude, produced from 1978 to 2001, spanned five generations, each showcasing Honda's commitment to performance and innovation. Focusing on models from the 1990s onward, the fourth generation (1992–1996) introduced a more curvaceous design and advanced technology. Notably, it offered an optional four-wheel steering system and a range of engines, including a 2.0-liter producing 133 horsepower and a 2.3-liter delivering 160 horsepower. The 2.3-liter variant achieved 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7.7 seconds, with a top speed of 215 km/h.
The fifth generation (1996–2001) featured a more angular design, combining elements from previous models. It was equipped with a 2.2-liter engine, available in two power outputs: 185 horsepower and 200 horsepower. The more powerful version accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.5 seconds. Fuel consumption for this generation ranged from 9.2 to 10.4 liters per 100 km, with real-world figures closely aligning with official data.
In user reviews, the Honda Prelude is praised for its engaging driving experience, responsive handling, and distinctive styling. Owners appreciate the vehicle's reliability and the balance between performance and comfort. However, some users note that the rear seating area is cramped, making it less suitable for passengers on longer journeys. Additionally, while the Prelude offers a sporty ride, its firm suspension may result in a less comfortable experience on rough roads. Overall, the Prelude is regarded as a well-rounded sports coupe that delivers both driving pleasure and dependability.
Honda Prelude reviews
Pros: A pleasant walk, glued to road, suspension very quiet - not even hear that he was going over holes. Service visits are not often. At general, pour gas and drive, because there is nothing to break.
Cons: 2.0 engine with time, begins to seem too slowly
