Citroen C4 Picasso is a compact MPV produced between 2007 and 2016, later renamed C4 SpaceTourer in its final years. It was designed as a family-oriented vehicle emphasizing interior space, modular seating, and ride comfort. Built initially on PSA’s PF2 platform and later on the EMP2 architecture, it became one of the key models in Citroen’s European lineup.
The first generation (2007–2013) was offered in both five-seat and seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso versions. Engine options included 1.6- and 2.0-liter petrol units, as well as 1.6- and 2.0-liter HDi diesel engines known for strong torque and efficiency. Power outputs ranged from around 110 to 155 horsepower. Manual gearboxes and automated manual transmissions were available. The design stood out for its large panoramic windshield and airy cabin layout.
The second generation, launched in 2013, moved to the lighter EMP2 platform, reducing weight and improving fuel economy. Engine choices included 1.2-liter PureTech petrol engines and updated BlueHDi diesel units, paired with 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions. Interior design adopted a more digital approach, featuring central touchscreen controls and configurable displays. Safety systems were expanded to include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automated parking assistance.
In user reviews, the Citroen C4 Picasso is frequently described as a comfort-focused family companion that prioritizes space and practicality. Owners often praise the flexible seating system, generous glass area, and smooth ride quality on long journeys. Diesel engines are valued for efficiency during motorway driving. However, some drivers mention that touchscreen-based controls can be less intuitive, certain interior materials may show wear over time, and the driving dynamics are tuned more for comfort than engagement. For many families, its versatility and relaxed character remain its strongest qualities.
